Our little munchkin is two years old!! I went through my previous
Alex Updates recently. It was fun to see how much he's changed & to reminisce about his younger days. It also made me a little emotional. Part of me misses that little baby. But I'm continually awed by the little person he is now & am loving this stage too.
Here's a little snapshot of what he's up to lately:
-He loves to read books - especially with trucks, tractors or trains.
-He talks a lot. He likes to repeat words & is doing a good job of stringing words together.
-His favorite phrases in the car are "Out", "More big trucks?", "More tractors?" and "Go!"
-He still likes labeling objects but he's decided that just about everything is his. He'll point to my cup & say, "Mama's drink?" I tell them he's right & then he says, "No, Alex's drink." He does not appreciate when you point out that it is not his cup. We hear "Alex's" or "my" a lot. My truck, my turn, etc, etc. I know this is common for this age but it requires a little more patience from Michael & me when he about pitches a fit over something that's not really his.
-He randomly calls me "Mommy" instead of "Mama". Not sure where this came from since Michael & I usually refer to me as "Mama". I was thinking I might keep it that way but one day he just started saying "Mom-mee". It caught me off guard because it came out of nowhere. I even asked him, "Did you just call me Mommy?" He said, "Yeah!" He likes to say it over & over again. Even though I was leaning toward staying "Mama", I'm fine with him calling me "Mommy". He says it so cute anyway.
-He's still a good eater. He may refuse certain food at a meal but usually not for good. There's nothing we've found that's an absolute no consistently. He loves bananas, apples & grilled cheese especially.
-I tell him I love him to the moon & back. He always says, "moon back".
-He went through a rough spell sleeping a few weeks ago. He'd cry for an hour & a half before going to bed & started waking up in the middle of the night crying. We finally decided it was a little bit of separation anxiety/being scared. We leave his door open now & peek in to check on him now. That seemed to do the trick.
-He loves to jump. And climb.
Which brings me to his birthday party! We had it at Bounce U & there was LOTS of jumping & climbing. He loved it! I think everyone had a good time. In fact, I think some of the adults had as much fun as the kids (or maybe more!) I apologize for the plethora of pictures but there were just too many good ones!

I took off the day today to spend with my little guy on his actual birthday. He spent most of the day playing with his new toys!
We sure love him & are so blessed to have him as our son!
