"Grandkids" Sign

I saw this cute idea on Pinterest awhile ago & thought of my mother & father-in-law who have six grandchildren (and are about to have one more!)  Of course, I see a lot of cute ideas on Pinterest & never follow through, but this time I did.

I found some finished signs on Etsy but I decided to make my own since shipping was a little pricey.  I found the vinyl sticker on Etsy & it fit a wooden sign I got at Hobby Lobby.  I painted the sign, put the sticker on & attached mini clothes pins.  I decided to decorate each clip based on the gender of the grandkid.  I found some iron-on decals at Walmart that did the trick (I glued them on, though).  I think it turned out pretty cute if I do say so myself!

The finished product on the wall complete with pictures (including an ultrasound picture for grandkid #7).  Won't be long & they'll be able to update it!

It's fun to craft something & have it turn out cute (especially when it's this easy!)

35 Weeks

This was actually taken two weeks ago before my company Christmas party.  I was surprised when I saw the picture - I didn't think my belly was quite that big!  He's really sticking out there...

How Far Along: 35 weeks

Gender: It's a boy!  A big one...  Last week the ultrasound showed he weighed 6 lb, 8 oz.  Plenty of babies are born around that size & I still had six weeks left.  Eek!  Alex was 8 lb, 6 oz & I know second babies are usually bigger than the first but I really don't want to have a 10 lb baby!

Movement:  He's running out of room to kick much, but he's still very active.  He squirms & pushes a lot - especially at the top & sides of my belly.

Sleep:  Not great this week.  I am worn out.

Maternity Clothes:  I'm in full-on maternity clothes pretty much all the time now.  Even some of my maternity shirts are getting a little too short in the front.  Makes me feel very big!

Symptoms:  Does getting a stomach bug count?  That's one of the reasons the picture above is two weeks old - I was going to post last weekend but got sick last Friday night.  It was MISERABLE.  Then Michael got it the next day.  We sent Alex to my parents' house & luckily he didn't get it (he is dealing with a nasty cold, though, and Michael has picked that up, too).  It was Tuesday before I felt somewhat back to normal.  I lost 9 pounds, people.  Wow.  I tried hard to stay hydrated, though.  I guess I did a decent job because the doctor told me this week my amniotic fluid level was still good.  Whew...  The little guy did lose a few ounces (or last week's ultrasound was off) because he was coming in at 6 lb, 3 oz this week.  But don't worry, I've pretty much put those 9 pounds back on over the last few days.  I guess that's what happens when you get your appetite back after being sick for several days!  Now that I'm over my illness, I'm back to being very uncomfortable.  I think he dropped down a little last week because I have been dealing with a lot more pain in my lower stomach/pelvic region.  It feels like everything is stretching out & it has not felt good.  Pretty much any movement hurts - especially walking after I've been sitting for more than 15 minutes.  I never experienced this with Alex.  I felt pretty mobile & decent until the end.  Now I'm moving a lot slower & struggling pretty much every day.  Not fun.  Feels like it's going to be a long month...

Aversions:  Nothing pregnancy related - all stomach bug related.  But luckily, that seems to be gone & I'm back to eating normal.

Cravings:  Still loving chai tea lattes & not really craving coffee lattes anymore.  Weird how it switched pretty much overnight...  I've been eating a lot of Cutie oranges (yum) & Honeycrisp apples.  Salads usually sound good - ones with lots of veggies or fruit.

Best Moment This Week:  Hmm, worst moment was definitely being sick, so I guess the best moment was finally feeling better.  I've also made progress getting geared up for the baby.  I think the nesting has started because I've been tearing through my to do list.  Michael up & decided last weekend that he wanted to paint the baby's room (we were just going to leave it).  He taped the room last Friday but obviously didn't get around to painting it because we got sick.  But we picked out a pretty blue color this week & he's hoping to get it done tomorrow.  I thought it was random he changed his mind about leaving it beige but I'm looking forward to seeing how the blue turns out.  Then hopefully we can get close to finishing the room in case the little guy decides to come early!

Two Years Old!

Our little munchkin is two years old!! I went through my previous Alex Updates recently. It was fun to see how much he's changed & to reminisce about his younger days. It also made me a little emotional. Part of me misses that little baby. But I'm continually awed by the little person he is now & am loving this stage too.

Here's a little snapshot of what he's up to lately:

-He loves to read books - especially with trucks, tractors or trains.
-He talks a lot. He likes to repeat words & is doing a good job of stringing words together.
-His favorite phrases in the car are "Out", "More big trucks?", "More tractors?" and "Go!"
-He still likes labeling objects but he's decided that just about everything is his. He'll point to my cup & say, "Mama's drink?" I tell them he's right & then he says, "No, Alex's drink." He does not appreciate when you point out that it is not his cup. We hear "Alex's" or "my" a lot. My truck, my turn, etc, etc. I know this is common for this age but it requires a little more patience from Michael & me when he about pitches a fit over something that's not really his.
-He randomly calls me "Mommy" instead of "Mama". Not sure where this came from since Michael & I usually refer to me as "Mama". I was thinking I might keep it that way but one day he just started saying "Mom-mee". It caught me off guard because it came out of nowhere. I even asked him, "Did you just call me Mommy?" He said, "Yeah!" He likes to say it over & over again. Even though I was leaning toward staying "Mama", I'm fine with him calling me "Mommy". He says it so cute anyway.
-He's still a good eater. He may refuse certain food at a meal but usually not for good. There's nothing we've found that's an absolute no consistently. He loves bananas, apples & grilled cheese especially.
-I tell him I love him to the moon & back. He always says, "moon back".
-He went through a rough spell sleeping a few weeks ago. He'd cry for an hour & a half before going to bed & started waking up in the middle of the night crying. We finally decided it was a little bit of separation anxiety/being scared. We leave his door open now & peek in to check on him now. That seemed to do the trick.
-He loves to jump. And climb.

Which brings me to his birthday party! We had it at Bounce U & there was LOTS of jumping & climbing. He loved it! I think everyone had a good time. In fact, I think some of the adults had as much fun as the kids (or maybe more!) I apologize for the plethora of pictures but there were just too many good ones!
