It's hard to believe my baby is half a year old. I really miss having a teeny newborn but I also love this age & how interactive Ethan's becoming. I keep joking I need another baby since mine's getting too old but Michael surprisingly doesn't find it funny.
Big changes recently! Ethan can roll/scoot to move across a room & he is this close to crawling*. He's been pushing up on all fours for several weeks now & can rock back & forth like a pro. He can sit unassisted & just started pushing himself to a sitting position last week. He also got his first tooth a few days ago! Luckily, it didn't seem to bother him much. I only knew he got one because I felt it. We also started solid food about a week ago. So far he's a big fan of rice & oatmeal cereal. He wasn't quite sure about sweet potatoes or applesauce but we'll try them again down the road.
He's been sleeping really well lately. Usually at least 10 hours but 11 or 12 isn't uncommon (and it's fabulous!) Hopefully I'm not jinxing us. Ha.
Much to my dismay, he's losing some of his chubbiness. I keep saying I'm going to start feeding him ice cream to fatten him back up. He's still a chunk but his cheeks aren't as round & he's not quite as roly poly. Luckily, he still has some chubby thighs for me to tickle. He weighed 17 pounds at his six month checkup. In fact, he was exactly in the 50% percentile for his weight, height & head. The nurse & doctor couldn't believe it. Michael says he's average. I say he's perfectly proportioned!

*I started writing this post last weekend & Ethan started crawling right after that. First it was just a little but it only took a few days until he had it mastered. The boy is FAST. More than once this week Alex has said to me, "Mama, where's Ethan?" He's usually just around the corner but it's going to take some adjustment to him being so mobile. Other developments in the last few days - another tooth & he's tried more food. He liked carrots the first time he had them but the second time... not so much. My in-laws got a funny video of him eating carrots but I can't get it to load correctly on here. Boo.
